Support for grandparents raising grandchildren in Berkeley county west Virginia

The Relatives as Parents Program offers support for grandparents raising grandchildren and other relative caregivers. We encourage all kinship caregivers in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia to join our monthly support group meetings.

We understand both the challenges and joys of raising relative children. There are endless scenarios including grandparents raising grandchildren, aunts raising nieces and nephews, cousins raising cousins, uncles raising nieces and nephews; and so on. Each kinship caregiver story presents a unique scenario.

Our support group is here to listen to your story and your journey. We share our experiences with each other and offer each other encouragement and support while providing a safe space to discuss the challenges that come with being a relative caregiver. RAPP of the panhandle also helps each family with resources that are catered to their specific needs. Our facilitators and counselors will help connect you with local organizations, groups and resources to get the help you and your family need!

Attending a RAPP of the Panhandle meeting also means having a great time. We also choose the most delicious menu, great conversation and fun activities for the children. We believe our support meetings should be a comfortable and welcoming space for all kinship caregivers to get the support they need.
